HCSC Summer Student Grant Position

HCSC Youth Technical Instructor

Start Date: May 20th

The HCSC Youth Technical Instructor is responsible for the delivery and programming of mini soccer (U4 to U10) and skills centre (U8 to U12) players, teams, and coaches. If interested in applying to this position, please submit your resume to meggie@halifaxcitysoccer.ca

The Youth Technical Instructor gets primary direction from and reports to the HCSC General Manager and Technical Leads.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Club with organizing mini and youth programs and events
• Coordinate and instruct on-field activities of mini programs and events
• Train, support and supervise mini program parent and student-coaches 
• Support youth coaches and players by providing materials, sessions and advice on skills and tactical subjects as required 
• Deliver and supervise summer camps, mini tournaments, jamborees
• Provide support to coaches requesting assistance

• Under the direction of the club Technical Leads, ensure that age and skill level appropriate technical training sessions are conducted with club mini players

• Liaise with the team coaches to assist with coach and player development

• Monitor players who are excelling or being challenged

• Head youth team as directed by club technical leads

• Assist the club technical leads in developing an appropriate curriculum

• Communicate with parents on the pitch, through email and on the phone 

• Ensure a safe environment at all times, free from any obstructions that might hurt a young player, parent or employee


Knowledge, Skills and Other Considerations
• On-field ability to run mini program, camps, placements, jamborees and other such activities
• 2 years minimum experience as a competitive player or coach
• Coaching certification for mini and/or youth levels
• Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities
• Willingness and flexibility to accommodate a variable work schedule
• Conscientious and dependable work ethic
• Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle as required
• Current and clear criminal record check
